Air Fryer Churros with 2 Fall Inspired Dips

The second recipe in our baking series with Amy at Live What you Love Blog!

This one was a first for me! I’ve never made churros before but our family loves them! We get them every time we see them. We always get them at our local fair or street festival and we even got them the last time we were in Florida – they’re so hard to resist!

Honestly, I’m not sure why I’ve never thought to make churros until now since they are such a favourite in our house.

AIR FRYER CHURROS WITH 2 FALL INSIRED DIPS

Makes approximately 40-50 miniature churros

Total Time: 1-1.5 hours

DOUGH

  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup salted butter
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1tsp vanilla
  • 2 eggs

APPLE CARAMEL DIP

  • 1 can of apple pie filling
  • caramel sauce

PUMPKIN CREAM CHEESE DIP

  • 1/2 can pumpkin pie filling
  • 1/2 cup icing sugar
  • 1 brick of cream cheese softened
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

On medium heat, bring the water, butter, sugar and vanilla to a boil. Reduce to medium-low heat and stir in the flour until it forms a ball. Turn off the heat and transfer the dough to a mixing bowl and let cool for 5-10 minutes. Once cooled slightly, add the 2 eggs to the mixing bowl. Mix in the eggs with a mixer until the eggs are fully combined.

Transfer the dough to a piping bag or a ziploc bag and using a large star shaped tip, pipe the churros on to parchment paper or a baking mat. Let cool in the fridge for approximately 1/2 hour to an hour.

Transfer the churros to the basket of the airfryer and spray them with cooking spray (this will crisp the outside and make them golden brown). Bake at 375 degrees for 10-15 minutes.

While the churros are baking, let’s make the cinnamon sugar. Combine 1/2 cup of sugar and 1tsp of cinnamon on a plate or shallow dish and toss the churros in the cinnamon sugar once they are done baking.

APPLE CARAMEL DIP

The apple pie filling I bought had whole slices of apple in it so I blended the pie filling and then transferred to a bowl. Add some caramel sauce to the pie filling and stir. Then sprinkle some chopped pieces of apple to the top of the dip and serve.

PUMPKIN CREAM CHEESE DIP

In a bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, icing sugar and pumpkin pie filling until fully combined. Add the cinnamon and stir into the dip. Transfer to a bowl, sprinkle some cinnamon on the top of the dip and serve.

Dip your churros and enjoy! There are also the classic caramel and chocolate sauces to dip with (chocolate is my personal favourite).

These were so fun to make and let’s just say that the boys couldn’t get enough!

Hope you all enjoy making these too and let us know how you like them.
